What is IELTS and why do you need it?

IELTS is an exam that measures the English language proficiency of a person in a fair and accurate way. The exam is made up of four sections, which include Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Which Exam do you need to sit on?

IELTS has two types:

• Academic IELTS

If you are planning to take the IELTS exam to prove your English proficiency and study at a college or university at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, you will need to go through Academic IELTS.

• General IELTS

General IELTS is mainly designed for people who are planning to move to a country where English is the native language. Moreover, people who wish to improve their language proficiency in English also prefer to take General IELTS.

The biggest difference between Academic IELTS and General IELTS would be in the reading section. The reading topics and passage numbers are completely different. Apart from that, you will also be able to notice some slight differences between questions that you have to answer in both the reading and writing sections.

How long do I need to prepare for the exam?

It will take around a month for you to prepare for the IELTS exam. However, it is important for you to stay committed during this time.
